A properly fitting ring should slide on easily but resist coming off over the knuckle. When in doubt, a little looser is always better than a little tighter.

How to Measure

Method One — Measure an Existing Ring

This is the most accurate approach, and it's our recommended method when you're planning a surprise. Find a ring she already wears on the correct finger — it should fit comfortably without sliding off.

• Place the ring on a flat surface and measure the inside diameter (not the outside) in millimetres, from edge to edge across the centre.
• Cross-reference the measurement using the chart below to find your ring size.
• Measure twice. The smallest errors matter with fine jewellery.

Method Two — Measure Your Finger

If you have access to the wearer, measuring the finger directly is straightforward:

• Wrap a strip of paper or string snugly around the base of the finger.
• Mark the point where the paper overlaps and measure the length in millimetres.
• Use the "Inside Circumference" column in the chart below to find your size.
• Measure at the end of the day when fingers are at their largest. Avoid measuring when hands are very cold.

Method Three — Visit a Jeweller

Any local jeweller can size your finger accurately with a professional ring sizer. This is the most reliable method and takes under a minute.

Sizing Tips for Surprises

• Borrow a ring. If you can temporarily borrow a ring she wears on her left ring finger, trace the inside diameter or take it to a jeweller for sizing.
• Ask a friend. A trusted close friend or family member often knows the answer, and can help without raising suspicion.
• Size up, not down. If you're unsure between two sizes, order the larger — we offer a complimentary resize within 90 days.
• Consider the season. Fingers swell slightly in heat and shrink in cold. Size for her average condition.
• Hand dominance matters. The dominant hand's fingers are often a half-size larger than the other. The ring finger on the non-dominant hand is where engagement rings typically sit.
